Best Excursion Services for Language Schools in Lagos

The field of language education is rapidly changing, and learning a language in a typical classroom setting is no longer the only option. Excursion services, particularly those that include travel, cultural immersion, and language practice, are becoming crucial for...

At Obafemi Awolowo University, Freshers’ Week has traditionally been a momentous occasion that combines culture, youthful aspirations, and fresh starts. With thousands of fresh students prepared to start the next stage of their academic careers, the 2025 edition fulfilled its promise. As one of the proud sponsors of the entire week-long celebration, The Multi-Language Place felt privileged to be a part of this year’s special spark.

I had the honor of speaking to the incoming students at the Freshers’ Week 2025 Symposium in my capacity as Director of The Multi-Language Place. The event was expertly planned by the Office of the Vice President, Great Ife Student Union. I am glad to have experienced this event, which combined academic guidance, cultural acknowledgment, and inspiration.

Why Foreign Languages Matter More Than Ever

My talk focused on a subject that is becoming more and more important in today’s world: the expanding significance of foreign languages in international academic, professional, and migration contexts. Being able to speak in multiple languages has grown essential as the globe grows increasingly interconnected.

German: A Gateway to Global Opportunities

Our conversation about the growing global significance of the German language struck an especially deep chord with the kids. Over time, African students looking for a top-notch, reasonably priced education have come to favor Germany.

I highlighted key reasons German has become a high-value language:

  • Academic Excellence: Germany offers tuition-free or low-cost education in top-ranked universities.
  • Vocational Training Pathways: Programs like the Ausbildung provide a structured path for young professionals to build careers.
  • Strong Economy: With Europe’s largest economy, German-speaking professionals are in high demand globally.
  • Massive Scholarship Opportunities: Many fully funded scholarships require or strongly recommend German language proficiency.
  • Ease of Integration: Speaking German significantly improves a student’s ability to study, work, and integrate into society.

Students were excited to discover how learning German could influence their academic and career paths in a variety of fields, including engineering, healthcare, finance, research, and international trade.

Beyond the Classroom: The Cultural Value of Language Learning

Grammar and vocabulary are only two aspects of learning a language. It involves comprehending individuals, customs, and worldviews.

I gave examples from everyday life during the session to illustrate how learning a foreign language can:

  • Build confidence
  • Increase cultural intelligence
  • Expand global networks
  • Create opportunities for travel, scholarships, work permits, and international collaborations

This expanded viewpoint opened many students’ eyes. Instead of viewing language study as a mere pastime, they now consider it an investment in their lives.

A Distinguished Presence: Meeting Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi

Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi, a well-known cultural leader, heritage advocate, and international representative of African arts, was a major feature of the day. Her involvement gave the conference a hint of royal grace and cultural pride.

The chance to speak and engage with Her Majesty directly added to the event’s specialness. Our discussion was enlightening and motivating. Her enthusiasm for advancing African identity, tradition, and international representation is quite similar to what we do at The Multi-Language Place, which uses language to bridge cultural divides.

This interaction was symbolic as well as memorable. It was a reminder that language, identity, and culture are effective means of fostering cross-border connections.

Connecting With the Next Generation of Global Citizens

It was quite rejuvenating to interact with the freshmen. Their inquiries, interest, and zeal demonstrated that students are prepared to discover the world outside of the institution. Many expressed their aspirations to study in Europe, pursue employment abroad, and experience different cultures.

Additionally, we gave them an overview of The Multi-Language Place’s several language courses and study routes, including:

  • German Language Courses

  • French Language Classes

  • Spanish and Portuguese Classes

  • Study Abroad Consultancy

  • Vocational Training Pathways (Germany)

  • Translation & Interpretation Services

  • Cultural Excursions and Exchange Programs

Observing their enthusiasm reaffirmed the importance of our goal, which is to equip Nigerians with the language skills necessary to prosper internationally.

Looking Forward: Our Commitment to Global Education

Freshers’ Week 2025 was a time of inspiration, hope, and connection rather than just an event. It underlined our dedication to using language education to help professionals and students access opportunities around the world.

At The Multi-Language Place, we will continue to:

  • Train learners with international standards
  • Provide guidance for study and work opportunities abroad
  • Strengthen cultural understanding through multilingual education
  • Support youths with the skills needed to succeed in a globalized world

We are committed to creating global citizens, one language at a time, as the world grows more interconnected.
